Judie gives Alex a big surprise

When Trust Estates Officer Alex Lister headed to our Hauxley reserve recently, little did he know he would be in for a big surprise!
Unbeknown to him, People’s Postcode Lottery Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt had donned her wellington boots and travelled to the reserve to present a huge cheque to Alex who was working with a group of young students from Ashington Community High School.The cheque for £153, 892 for the Trust represents the amount players of the Postcode Lottery have raised for us to date.
Judie then joined Jim Martin, the Trust’s Hauxley Caretaker and the pupils and school staff for an afternoon of hard work rebuilding and replacing fencing across the site.
The pupils, who are from Year 11 at Ashington High School, have been coming to the reserve to help with essential maintenance for over a year and will gain an ABC qualification from this work, in addition to gaining experience in working outdoors. The project is highly popular, with an 100% attendance rate.
