New Sea Hide at Hauxley

11th February, 2010

A very generous donation from a member of the public has allowed Northumberland Wildlife Trust to purchase and install a new bird watching hide at its Hauxley nature reserve.

Additional funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery then enabled the wildlife charity to remove the old hide from site, re-furbish and re-install it at a new location looking out to sea.

The aptly named ‘Sea Hide’ is a fantastic place to watch the wildlife living in and around the North Sea.

From this excellent vantage point members of the public will be able to spot Arctic terns en-route to their nearby Farne Island breeding ground, gannets, a huge variety of sea birds feeding on the sand eels in the Bay not to mention the occasional passing whale and dolphin.
