Keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t snow this February as a team of estates officers and volunteers from Northumberland Wildlife Trust aim to have planted over 5,000 trees and 250m of hedgerow at 9 locations around the Region by the end of next month - not to mention the trees which will be felled to make way for the new ones.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s Hauxley reserve is supported Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year, by a small team of dedicated volunteer wardens, who, since the early 1980s, have carried out and recorded a daily bird count to establish a picture of bird populations throughout the Druridge Bay area.

Local Wildlife Trusts will pursue badger vaccination as a means of tackling bovine TB in the pilot badger cull areas announced today.
