Sense and Sensibility heading to Northumberlandia

Sense and Sensibility heading to Northumberlandia

Following the success of the open-air theatre production of Jane Eyre at Northumberlandia last summer, Northumberland Wildlife Trust has joined forces with Heartbreak Productions to host another Jane Austen performance on the Blagdon lane site.

Forget outdoor festivals and garden parties, this social season Heartbreak Productions is inviting members of the public to don their regency finery and head to Northumberlandia for a performance of Sense and Sensibility - a biting social satire about sisters looking for romance.

On Friday 28 July, between 7:00 pm and 9:10pm, the interactive production will see characters Ladies Elinor and Marianne Dashwood each seek to meet an honorable man of good fortune by whatever means necessary - a bit like Love Island, but 225 years earlier.

With four actors playing over 20 characters and members of the audience getting involved in the ups and downs of the regency romance and invited to dance at the Matchmakers Ball it really is something a bit different for a Friday night.

Places do need to be booked so visit www.nwt.org.uk/events to secure a ticket, then dust off your deckchairs, grab your bottle of prosecco or nosecco and head to the Blagdon Lane site for a literary classic with a Heartbreak twist.

Frances Smiles, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Events Officer says:

“Over the past 12 months our Northumberlandia events programme has really gathered momentum with markets, trails and two outdoor theatre companies visiting the site this summer as part of their national tour programme.

“If you fancy something a bit different this July, come and watch Sense and Sensibility and dance, regency style, at the Matchmakers Ball.”

Made of 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay and soil, Northumberlandia is 100 feet high and a quarter of a mile long. Built by the Banks, on land donated by Blagdon Estates, Northumberland Wildlife Trust is the managing agent, working on behalf of the Land Trust.
