Red squirrels and water voles are seriously under threat in the North of England due to loss or fragmentation of habitats and predation from invasive species such as mink.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is working to restore these iconic animals to our landscape.

Projects to reintroduce water voles and support red squirrels require detailed evidence base strategies. This work includes coordinating and supporting volunteers to complete extensive surveys that build a picture of the species’ populations, size, habitats and the challenges we face to save these native species.

Organising, delivering and reporting the results of such surveys is a substantial undertaking, but one that is crucial to the success of these projects.

This is where we need your help. To fund the spring surveys we are taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge, and hope to raise £20,000.

Any donations you make are doubled so it’s a great opportunity to make your generous gift go further.
