Note dependent on season

The image shows a young tree with bright yellow leaves in the foreground, surrounded by green grass and other newly planted trees. The background is blurred, but it appears to be a field or meadow with other trees in the distance.

Woodland management

A little bit of Tree-LC

From planting trees and beginning whole new forests, to maintaining ones already growing, this is your chance to get hands on with our wonderful woodlands. Contribute to something with a lasting legacy and help us restore one of the most woodland depleted counties in the whole of the UK.

Time: September - February

Grassland management

Meadow Makers

Every summer, our teams must descend on our wildflower meadows to cut the grass, without this key cutting and removing of grass, we will lose these colourful sites, as wildflower meadows need very specific soil conditions to grow!

Go wild for wildflowers and learn about the science and method behind preserving these colourful sites as you help us maintain them for another year.

Eg. Task – grass meadow cutting at Holywell

Invasive species removal

Bring back the Botanical Balance

All ecosystems need an equilibrium, and sometimes some plants need a little bit of extra management, help restore the natural variety of plants to help pollinators thrive

Human interference with ecosystems has upset the natural order of plants, creeping thistle and ragwort can be amazing plants in the right place, but need to be managed to not take over everything else.

Eg. Task: Removal of Himalayan Balsam, Bracken, Ragwort, Creeping Thistle.

Time: June to September

Feel free to inquire if you’re open to any task including ones not listed above. There is always something slightly different happening at the trust and we may be able to find a surprise for you!

Testimonials

ONE Environments helped us remove 6 dumpy bags of tree tubes from the haining in September 2026, where trees were in desperate need of rescue.

My favourite thing about the wildlife workday was having access to beautiful surroundings and the opportunity to help protect and enhance this, with expert guidance and knowledge.
We all came away feeling proud of our efforts and happy to have been in such beautiful surroundings.
