Most people remember to leave out mince pies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer on Christmas Eve, but how many people spare a thought for his hardworking elves?

Sainsbury’s in Cramlington certainly hasn’t forgotten them and has very generously donated a large quantity of mince pies to Northumberland Wildlife Trust to fuel its the volunteer elves who are assisting Santa on his whistle stop visit to his grotto at Northumberlandia on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December.

Sainsbury’s supports community events and local charities across the UK, so the wildlife charity is delighted the store at the Manor Walks Shopping Centre is supporting the event at Northumberlandia which is on its doorstep.

Situated on Fisher Lane in Cramlington, Northumberlandia is a wonderful place to visit whatever the time of year, and because of its popularity with members of the public, it will only be closed for a short time over the festive period.

It will be open until Friday 22 December when it will close, re-opening again on Wednesday 27 December.  Visit the cafe for a selection of festive treats including mince pies and hot chocolate.
