About the event

If you are a young person and are fascinated by marine life and want to meet other like-minded young people, this event is for you! Come along to a celebration of all the wonderful creatures and animals that can be found on the amazing north east coastline.

Situated at the beautiful St Marys Lighthouse there will be lots fun activities to get involved in. We will have ted talks led by young people across the north east, bird walks led by young people, nature arts and crafts, and a rock pooling session led by the St Mary's Lighthouse staff at the low tide!

There will be lots of refreshments throughout the day and even some free yummy treats from Greggs!! But please bring your own packed lunch as we cannot cater to all dietary needs.

There is plenty of car parking if you are driving to the event. For public transport; from centre of Newcastle take the yellow metro line to Whitley Bay. From Whitley Bay catch the 308 bus towards Blyth, get off at The Links - Cemetery then it is a 10 minute walk to the lighthouse. Please aim to arrive 09:45.

At Celebrate our Geordie Shores there will be a mixture of both indoor and outdoor activities. The indoor space is up a flight of stairs and there is no lift up to the space, therefore if you have accessibility needs please get in touch so we can discuss this! For the outdoor activities it is recommended you bring sturdy footwear and clothes you don't mind getting slightly damp as we will be in the rockpools. There will always be a chill out space with some craft activities if people don’t want to join in on the main sessions. There will be photographers and videographers attending this event, please make it known to NWT staff or volunteers if you do not want to be in photos. The timetable of the event will be sent out closer to the time. Age 16+.
