Motoring on thanks to generous support

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have joined forces with Northumbrian Water Ltd to help Northumberland Wildlife Trust purchase a new vehicle to ensure it keeps motoring on with vital work on its reserves which have helped people stay focussed over the past year.

The Volkswagen Caddy will be put to good use, transporting tools and materials needed for habitat management around the region including the Border Mires in North Northumberland and will save using one of the bigger vehicles when life returns to normal and volunteers head back onto the reserves to carry out practical conservation work. It will also be used to tow a large mower between reserves in the summer

Speaking about the new purchase, Mike Pratt, Northumberland Wildlife Chief Executive said:

“Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have supported us for the past 13 years and, following the nightmare of 2020 and start of 2021, their support is invaluable.

“Likewise, we have worked with Northumbrian Water Ltd for many years, so it is reassuring to know, that during such difficult times, we have their support.”
