From Boxing Day until Sunday 7 January, between 10:00am and 3:00pm, everybody will be able to  escape the re-runs of Love Actually on the former colliery site via a downloadable map.

The map, available at www.nwt.org.uk/events/2023-12-26-weetslade-winter-trail contains 10 stopping points highlighting intriguing and fascinating facts about the former colliery which is situated on the outskirts of Newcastle.

Further up the coast at Druridge Bay, the wildlife charity’s Hauxley nature reserve will be open from 27th December with the Lookout Café dishing up festive treats such as bacon, brie and sprout scones, turkey ciabattas and turkey and cranberry sausage rolls.
