A group of pupils from Gibside School in Whickham visited Druidge Bay as part of their community visit to learn about different types of wildlife, in support of their current Geography topic.

The nine pupils aged between 7 - 9 years of age visited Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s award-winning Wildlife Discovery Centre on its Hauxley reserve.

It was a long drive but well worth the journey as the lucky nine had a wonderful time spotting the different birds visiting the reserve through binoculars and testing out the fabulous play area which was installed thanks to funding from the Tesco’s Bags of Help campaign and supported by Tesco shoppers in Amble.

The morning ended with refreshments in the Lookout Café and the opportunity to watch the antics of the visiting geese on the reserve’s main lake.
