Un-fizz-gettable moments now on offer at nature reserve
Northumberland Wildlife Trust is delighted to have been awarded a licence allowing it to now serve alcohol at its Hauxley nature reserve.
Opened in June 2017, the Lookout Café in the Wildlife Discovery Centre serves its wonderful scones and cakes to over 50,000 customers each year.
Now, in addition to its scone loyalty card, visitors will be able to enjoy a glass of something alcoholic as part of their visit to the award-winning site.
To mark the launch of the selling of alcohol, the Trust has launched the Hauxley Café Supper Club running from 6:00pm - 9:30pm.
In addition to feasting on grazing platters including local cheese, charcuterie meats, salad, hummus and crudities, it’s a great opportunity for nature lovers to enjoy the sun going down over the lakes and catch a glimpse of many of the night-time residents including bats, owls and foxes - something they wouldn’t normally be able to experience as the reserve’s gates usually close at 5:30pm.
First past the pump opener was Robert Hartley from Lancaster who was visiting Hauxley with his wife Catherine, whilst staying with a friend in Amble.
After their first bottle of beer, the group walked around the lake marvelling at the wildlife with a promise that they would be back for more.
