Double your Difference for The Rothbury Estate: where the cuckoo still calls
Save the date to double your donation in the Earth Raise Match Funding campaign
midday 22nd – midday 29th April 2026
The The Rothbury Estate offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect 3,800 hectares of moorland, woodland and wetland for wildlife and people.
Once the herald of spring, the common cuckoo has declined by 71% in England since the 1990s. The Rothbury Estate is a crucial stronghold for this iconic species — but if the land is sold in separate lots, its rich habitats could be fragmented and the opportunity to create a 40-mile wildlife corridor across northern England could be lost for generations.
With your help, we can secure this landscape and protect it for nature’s recovery.
Your gift will be doubled – but only for one week!
From midday on 22 April until midday on 29 April, all donations made to our Rothbury Estate appeal through Big Give will be doubled, thanks to match funding from The Big Give.
That means your £50 becomes £100, and your £100 becomes £200 (and even more with Gift Aid!) — making twice the difference for nature in Northumberland.
One donation. Twice the impact.
Your donation will help us to:
Secure the landscape – helping protect 3,800 hectares of moorland, woodland and wetland for wildlife.
Restore habitats – supporting the recovery of degraded habitats so species like the cuckoo can thrive.
Protect nature – safeguarding rare and important plants, mosses and wildlife.
Support natural recovery – creating the conditions for nature to recover through natural processes.
Promote regenerative farming – supporting approaches that place nature at the heart of sustainable land management.
