Seventeen years after ospreys returned to breed in Northumberland for the first time in two centuries, the 150th chick has successfully fledged from a nest at Kielder Forest.

Forestry England tree climbers joined experts to ring rare osprey chicks in Kielder Water & Forest Park, Northumberland.

For the first time since breeding ospreys returned to Northumberland in 2009 wildlife fans can now watch live video on the birds’ progress on YouTube.

Following the return of the first osprey to Kielder on Friday 24th March, the first egg of the season was laid on Sunday 16th April on Nest 4.
