The wildlife charity’s popular Easter Egg Trail at Northumberlandia in Cramlington will be running from Friday 3rd April - Monday 6th April, between 10:00am and 3:00pm. The downloadable map contains clues to the whereabouts of hidden numbered eggs in the Cramlington woodland and once completed, a chocolate treat is available in the café for those taking part.
The team at the Hauxley Nature reserve is gearing up to hosting an exciting its new Spring Photo Trail around the popular Druridge Bay reserve which is free and made possible thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
From Friday 3rd April - Sunday 19th April, between 10:00am and 3:00pm individuals or groups can follow the photo trail around the site - stopping and matching photos and mixed-up letters spelling out a creature or plant on the site, whilst at the same time enjoying the wonders of springtime.
And it’s not just humans being offered a wonderful time this Easter. At Weetslade Country Park, on Saturday 3rd April, pooches of all ages are invited to bring their humans to the Wagtastic Easter Meet-Up, where, for two hours, between 10:00am and noon they can meet fellow dogs while their humans find out more about the Trust’s work on the former colliery site.
Following on from the success of wildlife charity’s Nature Celebration Day at its St Nicholas Park in reserve last summer, an Easter Nature Celebration Day will take place on Saturday 11th April between 10:30am and 3:30pm.
From pond and nature crafts to a session on how to use iNaturalist - an app to help people identify plants and animals and become an expert nature detective, it’s an event not to be missed.
Frances Smiles, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Events Officer says:
“There’s something for everybody this Easter, whether you like peering into ponds, have four legs and a tail, want to do some arts and crafts or simply just stroll in peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of life, head to the coast at Hauxley, or inland to Northumberlandia, Weetslade Country Park or the Gosforth suburbs.”
Some of the activities are free thanks to funding from The Land Trust, People’s Postcode Lottery and The Championships, Wimbledon and Emirates while some have a small charge attached to them.
