Find out more about the Lady of the North this February

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is encouraging young people to make the most of being off school this February by heading to Northumberlandia and learning all there is to know about the iconic Lady of the North.
Northumberlandia from woodland - NWT

Constructed out of 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay and soil, Northumberlandia aka The Lady of the North is 100 feet high and a quarter of a mile long. The landform sculpture cost £3 million which was privately funded by the Banks Group and the Blagdon Estate, and built by the Banks Group as part of the restoration of the adjacent Shotton surface coal mine, so is certainly worth a closer look.

From Saturday 19th - Sunday 27th February, between 10:00 - 15:30 each day, the wildlife charity is offering a downloadable Landscape Quiz Trail.

Priced at £3, the trail takes participants through the woodland, around the lake and halfway up the sculpture to the left hip - although the adventurous may want to walk to the top - before rounding off the trail with a visit to the Northumberlandia Visitor Centre café and seeing what delights are on the menu.
