Lady of the North gearing up for the Battle of the Bard

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is calling on all lovers of Shakespeare to limber up for Northumberlandia’s Battle of the Bard this June as part of a unique experiment, aptly titled: MacHamLear.

A farcical piece of new writing from award-winning playwright Michael Davies, MacHamLear shamelessly exploits the genius of England’s most celebrated writer.

Hosted by the wildlife charity in association with Heartbreak Productions, the assembled audience will be able to help answer the question keeping literary scholars awake at night... which play is the best to have come from the Bard’s quill?

Under the watchful eye of the iconic Lady of the North actors will be at the mercy of the audience (and the weather) as they pit MacbethHamlet, and King Lear against each other in a very entertaining way.

Anybody wanting to be part of this unique event should grab their deck chair, weather appropriate gear as the event is outdoors, nibbles, cocktails, mocktails, prosecco or nosecco and head to Northumberlandia on Sunday 11 June ready for the curtain going up at 6:30pm.

Made of 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay and soil, Northumberlandia is 100 feet high and a quarter of a mile long. Built by the Banks, on land donated by Blagdon Estates, Northumberland Wildlife Trust is the managing agent, working on behalf of The Land Trust.
