About the event

300,000 tonnes of clothes are discarded in the UK each year. Less than half have been worn more than 7 times. Most end up in land fill. Extending the life of a garment by nine months reduces its carbon footprint by 30%.

In this session, we will explore ways to repair clothes using creative patches, decorative darns and even some simple embroidery. We will also explore ideas to alter and repurpose clothes into new outfits and other uses.

No previous experience is needed, and basic threads and fabrics are provided. Just bring along an item of clothing in need of repair (jeans, T-shirts, etc all work well). If you have any fabric scraps, ribbons or lace please bring those as well if you would like to incorporate them into your unique design.

The aim is to have fun, be creative, and to help reduce waste. Suitable for beginners and experts alike.
