The event will take place at the Trust's popular St Nicholas Park nature reserve in Gosforth on Thursday 15 October, from 10am to 2pm.
Open to anyone aged three and over, the drop-in session requires no booking and offers children a fun, hands-on opportunity to explore nature and learn more about local wildlife.
The event forms part of Northumberland Wildlife Trust's Championing Nature Project, made possible through support from The Championships Wimbledon and Emirates.
Aelfi Hackney, Community Engagement Officer at Northumberland Wildlife Trust, said:
"Children love getting their hands dirty, so what better way to do it than by joining our minibeast hunt? It's a fantastic free activity that helps young people connect with nature, make new friends and discover more about wildlife right on their doorstep."
After exploring the reserve, the nature detectives can continue their fun at The Owl Tree Community Nest, based in the former Coxlodge Methodist Church on Kenton Road where they will have the chance to take part in free competitions and win prizes, including sweets, chocolate, badges and stickers.
St Nicholas Park is one of the Trust's valued urban nature reserves, providing an important green space for both people and wildlife within the city.
