Eyes on the Bog

Tracking peatland landscape change with Eyes on the Bog

As part of the IUCN's UK Peatland Programme Eyes on the Bog project, the Northumberland Peat Partnership has installed fixed point photography posts at three key peatland sites: Moss Peteral, Benshaw Moor, and Whitelee Moor (see map). We need your help to record how our peatland landscapes are changing over time!

Each post is fitted with a cradle designed to hold your smartphone – just place your phone in the cradle, line up the camera with the hole, and snap a photo of the landscape in front of you.

By taking and sharing these photos over time, we can monitor changes in the landscape, such as vegetation growth and the effects of peatland restoration.

By collaborating on this project, we can build a visual timeline of peatland recovery and continue to safeguard these habitats for the future.
