About the event

We will visit Caudhole Moss, a raised bog and very special habitat on the Rothbury Estate. It is home to sundew, emperor moths and, some say, magical wisps. Damaged through burning and draining, there has already been work to restore the deep peat. This year, thanks to a range of funders, including the Nature for Climate Peatland Grant Scheme, more work will be done to improve the habitat and protect the peat resource.

This walk is a chance to find out more about the bog, how it was formed, it's important role for nature and people and plans for it's restoration and protection. Please bring water, a snack, footwear suitable for muddy paths and a waterproof layer. Please also bring sun protection. Age 12+.

TERRAIN: HARD. The walk involves 45 minutes of uphill walking via rough paths and tracks so please expect to be walking on uneven ground and negotiating some obstacles.
