Men's Pie Club: Natural Ingredients with Northern Wilds
About the event
The coastline is a wonderful place to discover wild food. This habitat provides an abundance of delicious and nutritious plants and seaweed. The experience starts with a guided exploration of the rocks going out to sea. At this time of year we exploit the vast tidal range of the Spring tides: allowing us to access some of the delicacies only to be found in deeper waters. We will return to shore to prepare the days finds into a fresh seaweed salad which we will enjoy alongside some homemade Sushi.
It can be quite exposed out on the coastal rocks, often windy; please wear appropriate clothing for the forecasted weather – hats, gloves and wellies recommended. A water bottle is also advised.
Walking across slippy rocks is difficult; walking sticks can help. If you have some, please bring them along, although we will be providing some for use on the day.
Can participants inform us of any allergies or dietary restrictions.
We usually prepare both a selection of vegan and smoked fish Sushi for the day.
An event led by Men's Pie Club and supported by Northumberland Wildlife Trust through The Legal & General Health Equity Fund.
