My new role as CRM Assistant on the Kickstart scheme

On the borders of Gosforth, nestled within the grounds of St Nicolas Park, lies Northumberland Wildlife Trust. Coming here for the first time, one cannot but help take in the greenery on show especially for someone who lives in a busy suburb of Newcastle.

Walking through the grounds, I am reminded of my fondness of nature, how it heightens the senses and calms the mind.

My name is Amaan Haq and I am one of NWT's new kick start placement assistants. My official role is a CRM (Customer Relationship Management Assistant). My main role involves data and financial processing and generating insights to guide the rest of the marketing team.

So far, I have been working on large-scale data cleansing and have supported Christine, the Membership Officer, with a number of mailings as well as general membership administration. My next task is to start writing up operational manuals in support of the system and membership processing.

I have also had the opportunity to write for the Roebuck magazine about mental health and the role of nature something which has become increasingly important to many during lockdown. I have had the chance to explore the other projects the Trust has been involved in such as Greener Futures and Friends of the Red Squirrel. It is great to be aware of the work Northumberland Wildlife Trust is doing for the local area and the conservation work undertaken. I am thoroughly enjoying my time at the Trust!
