Wilder Northumberland site visit to Wild Kielder
About the event
Join us for a site visit to Forestry England's Wild Kielder! The day will start off at Kielder Castle at 10:30am with an introduction to the project, followed by site visits to specific sites in the project area. Then we'll be back at Kielder Castle for 3pm. Tea, coffee and cake will be provided on site but please bring a packed lunch with you.
About the project: Focused on the East Kielder Forests and Kielderhead Moors, the Wild Kielder project will have a minimum scope of 6,000 hectares of forest, grassland and moorland, restoring natural processes, including allowing trees and scrub to regenerate naturally and reinstating hydrological function.
The site visits will include travel down rough tracks, therefore attendees will meet at Kielder Castle and then will be taken to the sites in Northumberland Wildlife Trust and Forestry England vehicles.
Limited lifts are available to the event from Northumberland Wildlife Trust's Gosforth Offices to Kielder Castle. Please contact wildernorthumberland@northwt.org.uk if you would like a lift to and from the event.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear - sturdy boots are recommended. The site visit will include walking through rough uneven terrain.
