Enjoy a wild weekend as part of festival

As part of the North East GeNErosity Festival in November, Northumberland Wildlife Trust will be hosting a series of Wild Weekend GeNErosity events at its Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre on Druridge Bay.

From 7th - 27th November, there will be a series of activities, debates and performances from Berwick upon Tweed  to Teeside to celebrate what philanthropy and generosity has achieved in North East England.

On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November, adults and children will be able to call in to the Trust’s Hauxley reserve and Wildlife Discovery Centre to play bird bingo, enjoy guided walks and talks, sit in the bird hides to watch the wildlife and get active in the natural play area - and it will all be free.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s Chief Executive Mike Pratt will be giving a talk on the ‘State of Nature’ and the steps everybody can take to help wildlife on the Saturday (10th) between 3:00pm - 4:00pm.

In addition, on the same day (10th), Wildlife Discovery Centre staff will be running two of their very popular owl pellet dissection sessions between 11:00am to 12:00 noon and 1:00pm to 2:00pm when people can try their hand at dissecting an owl pellet and finding out what our barn owls have been eating.  This is a bookable event and there is a small charge. To secure a place visit:

Owl pellet dissection 11am - 12pm
Owl pellet dissection 1pm - 2pm

Speaking about the event, Mike Pratt, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Chief Executive said: “When we heard that there was going to be a festival in November to celebrate philanthropy and giving, we realised we just had to get involved in some way as our charity relies on people’s generosity for a large part of its conservation work.

Our Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre which is hosting our events was partly funded by donations, legacies and charitable trusts, so what better place to highlight the importance of philanthropy to the region?”
