Outdoor Shakespeare a sell-out

Outdoor Shakespeare a sell-out

The HandleBards (the Peddling Shakespeare: Cycling Theatre Company) went down a storm for the sixth year running at Northumberlandia with recent their hit production of the comedy of Twelfth Night with drunkenness, frivolity and cross-dressing aplenty all under the watchful eye of the Lady of the North.

No spotlights were needed as the sun shone and the temperature was off the scale, enabling the Bards to deliver a sell-out performance with their extremely energetic performance of the popular comedy.

Committed to providing environmentally-friendly open-air theatre across the country, the Shakespearean actors pedal from venue to venue with the set, props and costumes on their bicycles,

In previous years, the site on Blagdon Lane has hosted performances of As You It, Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing.

The Northumberlandia site on Blagdon Lane, which is managed by Northumberland Wildlife Trust, is seeing record numbers visiting the site this summer as people stay local to either save money or save themselves the hassle of train cancellations and flight delays.

The wildlife charity’s summer events are proving very popular with extra volunteers being drafted in to help out. Events staff are particularly delighted that the Enchanted Cramlington Woodland Trail, with its characters including Belle Badger and Mr Fox and which was due to close at the beginning of August, is now running until Saturday 3rd September.
