Environmental responsibility has long been recognised as being good business practice. Corporate membership of Northumberland Wildlife Trust is a great way to engage and inspire your employees, customers, suppliers and stakeholders by demonstrating your commitment to the region’s wildlife and wild places.

Awareness of ‘green’ issues is at an all-time high. Terms such as ‘carbon footprint’, ‘environmental sustainability’ and ‘corporate social responsibility’ (CSR) are fast becoming strategic boardroom priorities and recognised as a source of real competitive advantage. Companies are increasingly being expected to demonstrate their ecological credentials to environmentally aware stakeholders in order to retain, develop and attract new business.

Investing in wildlife not only makes good business sense it’s also great for your staff. Many studies link exercise and outdoor activities to improved mental and physical health, helping us to perform better and lead happier, healthier lives.
Global initiatives are vital; so too is our local environment, protected by local enthusiasts such as Northumberland Wildlife Trust. I cycle through Hauxley Reserve regularly, for pleasure and commuting to work, so it just doesn’t make sense not to support it. A number of my patients are volunteers there and, frankly, if you put a value on their time, they contribute a lot more than me!
Sometimes business benefits are not immediately quantifiable. However, we believe, ‘Loyalty comes from Trust’; my patient support, and therefore my business success, reflects their commitment to a broader, principled, business model. So please everyone, by doing your little bit, we will help ensure future generations enjoy the beauty and diversity our natural Northumberland offers.

How you can get involved
We offer a comprehensive Corporate Membership scheme, but recognise that relationships form in many different ways. Whatever the size of your organisation or level of commitment you can give, we can work together to make a difference to the region’s wildlife and wild places. In addition, there are other ways your organisation can get involved and support for example through fundraising events or wildlife work days.
Corporate membership
Corporate membership plays a vital role in supporting our work. Support levels are tiered ensuring that every company, no matter its size or number of staff, can make a real difference where they live and work. Memberships start from £250+VAT per year (bronze), to £500+VAT per year (silver) and £1000+VAT per year (gold).

Below are just some of the different ways that your company could choose to support us:
Charity of the year
You could make a long-term commitment to supporting the Trust by nominating us as your company's charity of the year - making a real difference to our work protecting and conserving the region’s wildlife.
Company donations
One of the easiest and most effective ways to support our work is through a company donation. You can choose to support a specific project or area of work, or we will allocate your donation to where money is most needed.
Gifts in kind
Supporting the Trust by supplying goods, discounted services or professional advice is another easy and valuable way for your business to help.
Staff fundraising
Employee fundraising is a great way to motivate staff and encourage teamwork throughout your organisation. Why not organise an event or activity to raise funds for the Trust? We can help out with advice, ideas and resources to make sure your fundraising goes with a bang.
Contract work
Choosing us as your preferred provider of land management advice and/or taking advantage of our in-house environmental consultancy service, EcoNorth, is a great way of supporting the Trust by investing in our future.
Payroll giving
Payroll giving is a straightforward and tax efficient way for your employees to donate direct from their salary, and enables everybody in your company to make a personal contribution to our charity.
Matched giving
Making donations that match the contributions of your employees is a great incentive for getting staff involved as well as potentially doubling the amount of money that could go towards protecting local wildlife.

National partnerships
Vine House Farm
Everyone should be able to experience the joy of wildlife in their everyday lives. The easiest and most effective way to do this is to encourage wildlife close to home. The Wildlife Trust’s enduring partnership with Vine House Farm has inspired and enabled people to look after the wildlife in their garden for over ten years. Feeding Vine House Farm bird seed, home grown on their wildlife friendly farm in Lincolnshire has enabled tens of thousands of people to experience the joy of wildlife in their gardens.
Every purchase raises money for their local Wildlife Trust too. In ten years their partnership with the Wildlife Trust has raised over £1.25m, an unprecedented level of support for a charity from a small family business which enables us to help many more people experience the joy of wildlife.
Jordans Cereals
The Wildlife Trust’s partnership with Jordans Cereals uses Trust’s local expertise to inspire, empower and enable the farmers who grow their cereals to farm in harmony with nature. Farmers look after over 70% of the UK’s land area and are key to natures recovery. The 30+ farms which grow cereals for Jordans look after 15,000ha. Every farmer has worked with experts from their local Wildlife Trust to meet an industry leading standard, developed in partnership between The Wildlife Trusts and Jordans.
Overall, a third of the land on the farms - nearly 4,600 ha - is managed for wildlife. Well manged field margins, woodland, waterways and hedgerows all enable wildlife to thrive and to move through the landscape. The Jordan's Farm Partnership is a partnership between Jordan's, The Wildlife Trusts, The prince's Countryside Fund and LEAF ( Linking Environment and Farming). Look out for The Wildlife Trusts logo on packs of Jordans and for special offers on Wildlife Trust membership.
