About the event

Come along on a Forage & Wander, and explore the incredible abundance of wild edibles, as we take a walk through Weetslade Country Park, an area of woodland, meadow and hedgerow, which sits on a former coillery site just outside of Cramlington. We'll be searching for seasonal wild edibles as we explore, connecting to the landscape through food gathered by hand, and expanding on your own knowledge and understanding of an ancient skill.

What to expect

🌱You will learn how to correctly identify around 15 different wild edibles, which can include flowers, fruits, foliage and fungi.

🌱We'll be covering how to forage safely and within the law.

🌱How to act sustainably when out and about, and why it's important for you and the landscape.

🌱You will learn why its beneficial to know your local landscape and why this information can be important to us as foragers.

🌱We'll also look at the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the wild edibles we come across.

🌱I'll be sharing hints and tips of how to make the most of the wild food we come across at home.

All levels of interest are welcome, and children aged 14 and under can come along for free with an adult.
