Entry and Car Parking

There is no entry fee at Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre because Northumberland Wildlife Trust wants to encourage everyone to learn about nature - but there is a car parking charge. It costs £500 every day to run Hauxley. NWT does not receive any direct government funding and the car parking charges will help us maintain our play area, toilets, road, car park and other facilities, as well as crucial conservation work on the reserve.

Thank you for supporting your local wildlife.

What are the charges?

£2 all day parking for cars

£5 all day parking for mini-buses

£10 all day parking for coaches

£30 for an Annual Parking Permit 1 April to 31 March

Annual Parking Permits are only available on-line – see below.

These charges apply to all vehicles, including blue badge holders, in all areas at all times.

Prices are per vehicle, not per person. Our pay machine accepts coins or contactless card payment.

Car parking hours vary according to the season and as gates are closed every night, please check the notice boards on-site before your visit for the daily closing time

Why can’t members have free parking?

Northumberland Wildlife Trust has taken advice from VAT and tax consultants to try and find a way to offer members a discount on parking charges. However, any benefits to our members, that non-members do not receive, will make the entire membership subject to VAT. This means we would lose 20% of our income from membership donations and would risk bankrupting the charity! We don’t think members would want that and will treat it as another way to support us to protect local wildlife.

Annual Parking Permit

Regular visitors may like to buy an Annual Parking Permit which provides fantastic value and allows you to visit as many times as you like from 1st April to 31st March.
