About the event

Experience beautiful nature-themed imagery in the downloadable guide as you walk around the site enjoying the wildlife as you explore!

Funded by UK SPF, the Weetslade Arts Trail is a community arts programme which worked with local residents.

Developed as a result of community listening in the area where residents expressed a desire to be involved in creative opportunities. This included the home education network who had connections to the area through local champions.

This led to the commission of local artist and resident Frederick Worrell to work with the community to develop a project which connected to the area. Resulting in the idea of a local art trail in Weetslade Country Park.

Inspired by the local environment, volunteers, residents and families worked together over an array of creative workshops to develop artworks. With contributions from all generations and experiences, the residents were supported to take their art from concept to design to final pieces. Learning new skills around composition, use of inks and mark making, participants also had the chance to experiment. This culminated in the creation of mandala rocks and convex mirrors.

Alongside artist Freddy Worrell, local volunteers then partnered with Northumberland Wildlife Trust to create a one-day art trail to showcase the works. Now recreated in a digital format to enjoy at your leisure.

This is a downloadable self-guided trail - you will be sent a link in your confirmation email, please scroll to the bottom of the email to access the map and information.
