During lockdown, thousands of people across the region discovered that they wanted and needed to connect with nature finding solace at their local green spaces and nature reserves, helping wildlife in their gardens and balconies or following the advice of David Lindo (aka The Urban Birder) by looking out and up from their windows and watching the birds flying.

Now, the wildlife charity is calling for people to channel their lockdown wildlife experiences via a short online survey with questions ranging from whether they have noticed any changes to the natural world and how far nature has helped with improving mental and physical well-being and relieving stress to what environmental issues they think the government and public bodies should consider in the future.

The survey is available at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/nwt2020 until the end of August.

Speaking about the survey, Sheila Sharp, Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s Head of Marketing and Fundraising says: “Things have changed rapidly and dramatically over the past couple of months. As we start to consider life after lockdown, and getting back to some sort of normality, we have a unique opportunity to reimagine society, and the Trust has a chance to influence this.

“We really would like everybody’s thoughts on what a different world could look like, so please take part in our survey as the results will be used to formulate our strategic plan for the next five years… and tell your friends.”
