As wildlife lovers in the region have their eyes to the skies eagerly awaiting the return of the Kielder osprey, plans are already in place to ensure Osprey Watch wings its way back.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is celebrating fifteen years of osprey fascination at Kielder with the launch of a young people’s art competition.

Good news. All Kielder’s rare osprey chicks are now airborne.

Forestry England tree climbers joined experts to ring rare osprey chicks in Kielder Water & Forest Park, Northumberland.

For the first time since breeding ospreys returned to Northumberland in 2009 wildlife fans can now watch live video on the birds’ progress on YouTube.

Following the return of the first osprey to Kielder on Friday 24th March, the first egg of the season was laid on Sunday 16th April on Nest 4.

It’s coming up to the time of year when wildlife lovers turn their eyes skywards and get ready to tune into the region’s annual soap opera.
